Thursday, May 31. We got up early to depart London for the Emerald Isle. We'd originally planned to fly, but after we found out that the extra-baggage penalties on RyanAir would be enough for a down payment on a house in SF (we packed a few extra things) we elected to take the train and ferry instead, which was more fun and interesting anyway.

We took a train from London to Holyhead, Wales (pronounced "Hollyhead", much to our amusement), then a ferry from there to Dublin.

Once we got to Dublin, we checked in at our hotel (The Anchor Guest House, a nice but petless place in a rather seedy area of Dublin) and got some dinner and a brief walk around town.
