This is the comment that one attendee wrote after attending last week's Alianta Gala Awards Dinner at Hall of the Americas in Washington DC:
"The Gala totally changed my perception of Romania: it is not just a country full of orphans, pollution and poverty, but also full of brilliant people like [Radu] Georgescu and these artists. I went to DC with the idea that Romania needs the US, but I know now the US needs Romania too, and not just because of the geographic location."
This regrettably blurred photo is of former U.S. Ambassador Mark Gitenstein, one of the 'Alianta' founders, taken during introductory remarks at the Gala Dinner.
