Work Experience
Arizona Software (www.arizona-software.ch), 1989-present: cofounder. Specialty applications (sold about 5,000 copies for $120,000), two of them won an Apple Design Award:
- Curvus Pro X (2D/3D mathematical grapher), iLocalize (localization tool), AudioXplorer (real-time sound analyzer), GraphClick (graph digitizer) and PhotoPresenter (3D slide-show).
- Curvus Pro X sold to a large computer company, 2004.
Automation, Production Engineering and Robotics Laboratory (Switzerland), 1998-2004. Led skunkworks team of highly motivated developers that created several successful products:
- PowerPolish, a revolutionary software designed to execute high quality trajectories with 6-axis robots. Currently used by Patek Philippe and Rolex (Geneva, Switzerland). PowerPolish reduced by 80% the warm-up time and by 70% the complete processing time for watch polishing.
- Visual Interface, the most powerful graphical user interface library for the V+ system that reduced the developing time of GUIs by 80%. Exclusive contract with Stäubli Robotics France (world leader in high-precision 6-axis robots).
-
PowerWB, an integrated robot system to process wafers in clean rooms at EM Microelectronic Marin SA. This robot system increased the production by 30%. Running time 24x7x365.
Selected Research Projects
- ANTLRWorks (www.antlr.org/works), 2005-current: advanced tool for developing and debugging ANTLR v3 grammars. Pioneered several new grammar visualization and analysis techniques including an interactive interpreter, language independent debugger, and grammar nondeterminism highlighter.
- Visual Automata Simulator (www.cs.usfca.edu/~jbovet), 2004-2005: the best platform independent tool to edit, display and simulate finite automata and Turing Machines.
All projects are open source under the BSD license.
Education
- University of San Francisco, 2004-2006: M.S. in Computer Science. GPA of 4.0. Two Arts & Science Merit Scholarships.
- University of Applied Sciences of Le Locle, Switzerland. Diplôme d'ingénieur ETS, degree course in Microtechnology (major in robotics), 1992-1998. Best GPA and Microtechnology final work.
