Interests
My hobbies, interests, things that get me excited...
Spring 2005 Courses:
CS 414 Compilers
Professor: David Galles Compilers Home Page
Compilers is exactly that, learning how to write a compiler. It
includes learning about lexical analysis,
parsing, semantic analysis, and code generation,
among other topics.
It looks like a lot of work, but interesting, though I do have a rather
hostile relationship with low level parsing, as I prefer higher level
coding.
CS 682 Distributed Software Development
Professor: Chris Brooks DSD Home Page DSD is concerned with software that functions between
multiple machines in a distributed environment. This includes P2P,
multimedia, protocols for
communicating, like SOAP and .NET and languages such as XML and RDF.
This class looks really interesting, as it relates directly to the
Master's Degree. In my opinion. (I'm not saying this because this site
is a assignment for
the class, it really looks interesting.)
CS 680 Internet Systems Research
Professor: David Wolber ISR Home Page
ISR is focused more on the theory behind the web as opposed to
the technical details. I believe (we haven't had class yet) that we
will be doing
more research into different areas of the web, such as search engine
architecture and algorithms, information retrieval,
web crawlers,
and data analysis, to name a few.
