A Bit more Flash...

Animation is not just about moving objects

Any graphical transformation can be "tweened" so that it happens smoothly over time.

1. Create a new Flash document.

2. Draw a shape on the screen and right-click and choose Convert to Symbol.

3. Select a frame (e.g., 25) and right-click, and select Insert | Keyframe.

4. Select the Free Transform tool on the tools palette (it's the one below the selection tool arrow), then click and drag on a handle of the shape to resize it.

5. Select frame 1 and right-click and choose Create Motion Tween.

6. Test your animation by selecting Control | Test Movie. The object should resize smoothly over time.

Creating characters consisting of multiple shapes

A "symbol" in Flash is like a character in a movie. You can create a character consisting of multiple images/shapes in the following manner.

1. Draw some shapes and select all of them. One way to select is to choose the select tool, click outside all the objects, and drag (lassoo) all the objects.

2. Right-click and choose "Create Symbol".

3. Now, the objects will move all together and you can program the animation so that clicking any of the objects in the symbol will trigger activity.
