Udi Manber is now a VP and Chief Algorithms Officer at Amazon.com.  He received his Ph.D in Computer Science from the University of Washington in 1982. His research interests include WWW applications, especially search and resource discovery tools, software tools, computer networks, computer security, and design of algorithms.

Eytan Adar is a researcher in the Information Dynamics Lab at Hewlett Packard Laboratories.  He is working on social networks, privacy issues, text mining and bioinformatics.

John Witchel received his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA.  Witchel is the creator of BrowserCam, a service that allows Web designers to see screen shots of their Web sites on all major operating systems, screen resolutions, browser brands and browser versions.

David Wolber is Chair and Associate Professor of Computer Science. He received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis. His areas of interest include programming by example, intelligent user interfaces, internet systems and development, and digital libraries. He is also an aspiring writer in USF's Creative Writing MFA program

Jim Pitkow is currently President of Moreover Technologies. Most recently, Jim was the President and Chairman of Outride Inc., a spinout from the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), which was acquired by Google. The company was the first to bring user model-based information retrieval to commercial viability, demonstrating a 50+% reduction in the time it takes people - novices and experts alike - to find information on the Web.

Lada Adamic is a researcher in the Information Dynamics Lab (IDL) at HP Labs. She studies the effects of local interactions on global properties. This has lead her to study the Internet and the World Wide Web, peer-to-peer systems, social networks, and bioinformatics.

Doug Cutting is the primary developer of the open source search project Nutch and Lucene. He has worked in the search industry for nearly two decades, including five years at Xerox Parc, four years at Apple, and three years at Excite. He is also currently working with the Internet Archive.

Igor Ranitovic received his M.S. in Computer Science from the University of San Francisco, San Francisco, CA. He is one of the lead developers on Internet Archive's Heritrix open source web crawler.
