Allan Cruse grew up in Alabama and attended
Indian Springs School near Birmingham.
He earned B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in mathematics
at Emory University, then spent four decades
teaching mathematics and computer science
at the University of San Francisco.
Two weeks after retiring from USF, Allan was
invited to travel to Romania with some Birmingham
friends -- and quickly became an enduring
fan of that rapidly advancing country, making
multiple return visits and getting acquainted
with Romanian-Americans in San Francisco's
Silicon Valley, in New York, in Washington DC,
in Boston, and in Birmingham.
