Readings
Here are some resouces on how to read Scientific Papers:
When you are presenting a paper:
You will have 15 minutes to present. Shorter papers can be half of that time. Please address the following when you are presenting a paper:
- Provide an overview of the paper - address its goals, methods, results, and discussion. Highlight any important figures or tables.
- Evaluate the paper in terms of its contributions/significance, originality, validity, and clarity. You can refer to other papers if you wish.
- What possible applications or future work of this paper?
- Are there any shortcomings? How would you have done this work?
- Please give the class two topics of discussion on this paper. It can be anything related to the paper, whether it's to do with its methodology, applications, anything you think needs to be highlighted or is of interest.
Late policy: Assignments submitted late will be penalized 20 percent (of the possible points) per day for 2 days, with no credit thereafter.
Please email your report to byuksel@usfca.edu. Please put your report for all papers assigned for that week into one document. Please put your name on the report and in the title of your report.
